Two-factor authentication (2FA), sometimes referred to as two-step verification or dual-factor authentication, is a second layer of security to protect your account. If you haven´t created a Binance account yet, click here to find out how.
While using 2FA you will have to provide two different authentication factors: your password and a second code which would be sent to a mobile device by SMS or to the Google Authenticator app.
Now, we´ll show you how to enable 2FA using the Google Authenticator app. Before we begin, keep your phone handy, you are going to need it.
If you are logging in for the first time, you can click on the Google Authentication enable option. If you previously skip that step, you can sign in into your Binance account and click on the "Enable" button next to the Google Authenticator section, near the lower-right corner.
You can skip the first step, which is to install the app (because you already did it). In the second step, you need to scan the QR code displayed in your Binance account, using the Google Authenticator App on your cellphone. You can also enter manually your 16-digit backup key instead.
We even recommend you making more than one copy! You will need it in case your phone ever gets lost, damaged, or stolen.
On the last step, you should enter your Binance password and a 6-digit 2FA code from the Google Authenticator app. Keep in mind that this code will automatically refresh every few seconds, for optimal security.
